Cameron Interview Concerning AVATAR... Interesting...

Saw this on joblo.com

“Jim basically was talking to me about the technology of shooting this stuff and he said to me, ‘Well, we don't really use a camera, Michael (Michael Biehn). We're not talking about film, we're not talking about HD… We don't use a camera.’ And I said, well, what do you mean you don't use a camera. And he said, ‘well there's not actually opticals when we shoot this stuff.’ And I was like, ‘well, what the f*ck are you talking about?'”

Sounds weird to me. Check it out.

EDIT: I guess it's not an interview so much as some talk between Cameron and Michael Biehn.

Yeah, what's the big deal? It's just like some super motion capture. People are obsessed with this stuff because nobody's come out and given a straight up play by play of what they actually do. But it's fairly simple. Zemeckis is doing it on Beowolf. Cameron is doing it on Avatar. They capture, put in computer, fill in the skin and backgrounds, voila. But *how will it loooook???* That's the question. We'll find out in 4 years (if you really think Cameron is going to finish on time, think again).

I'll admit that the article sounded far more incredible/mind boggling when I was drunk and found it.

Now it seems more obvious its referring to mocap of some sort.
