Cameron calls fan an a-hole

From the content of the video...

...+1 on calling the guy an a$$hole.

I mean, who needs to be chased through an airport by someone demanding attention/autographs/whatever, who feels entitled to harass you because they (gasp) bought a ticket to see your movie?

I think most of us are lucky in that we'll never be the targets of that kind of infantile self-righteous entitlement.

F*ck, give me that guy's address and I'll mail him back his $15.

I saw it on TMZ, I would have had the guy on the ground in no less than a millisecond if he got in my face like that & I would have filmed it with his camera. :)

This guy was not a fan. He was one of the dozens of people who wait at airports and hound celebs for autographs to sell on e-bay. Shortly after the incident he was trying to sell his poster on e-bay as the one Cameron wouldn't sign. A predatory parasite who deserved what he got. Jim said 'no' and the guy kept hounding him.

Considering the kind of security personnel that Jim has on staff, that dipsh*t is lucky that the worst thing that happened to him that evening was being called a name.

I'd almost like to see what would have happened if he'd made the mistake of trying for physical contact.

Not that I believe he has the balls.

*edit* I also have an Avatar poster un-signed by James Cameron. Bidding starts at $500. Knock yerselves out.

California caps the assault fine at $1k (unless it's a cop, then $2k) but I really think it should be capped at $5 for assault against paparrazi for certain circumstances like these.

Jeez, what a jerk.

I have seen a fair few celebrities. I just give them the nod. They know you recognize them and appreciate that you leave them alone.

I never understood the autograph thing anyway. It proves that you saw someone. Big deal. I don't really have anything to prove.

How about a 5K reward for it instead.

I want to kick the crap out of people that buy the rags that fuel that industry. They never see themselves as the root of the problem.

I'll admit that I like getting autographs on stuff, but really only from co-workers and crewmates.

As mementos, not to sell on ebay.

I realize that Jim, it's just a joke. I don't want anyone to hurt anyone unless they are paparazzi. :)

I mean, seriously, no one forced him to give up an hour's wages to go see the movie. And if you like the movie, then you got your money's worth. Cameron doesn't owe him squat. I don't care how long he worked to pay for the ticket. :violin:

I have been to countless producers/studio parties and tossed back drinks with the best of them and have never asked (or wanted) an autograph. Ok, Robert Downey JR. did autograph the heart from Irom Man that I have but I didn't ask him too.

I don't think he chased Cameron through the airport. He should have just ignored the guy. If the "fan" was trying to get Cameron to do something for TV, he got it.

Then again maybe he was just some guy making $15 an hour. Either way it is going to be all over the web now. James Cameron should know better.

I work part time as a stagehand and I would get fired if we ask for an autograph. I don't want one either.

Haha, this guy complained +100 he had to work an hour's worth of work to see the movie.

Hey genius, how long do you think it took Cameron?

Totally got that. They say they are just earning a living. But that's a scummy way to choose to earn a buck. I'd rather go back to delivering mail than preying on people.

I could see an autograph as a personal memento. I guess it's just not my thing. I've only gotten one (from classical guitarist Christopher Parkening) because he was sitting there at a table signing them after a performance.

Now, if it was Abraham Lincoln, or WIllard Scott...that might be different.

That guy was purely an asshole. You think he *just happened* to be at the airport when James Cameron was arriving with an Avatar poster? You think 10% of the fans of Avatar could even recognize James Cameron?

That guy is an idiot, and anyone who can't respect other people shouldnt get rewarded with an autograph.

As I've said before, I don't want to be famous; if I were, I'd have no time to enjoy it because I'd be dealing with assault charges so often. It pisses me off, as it does many of you, just looking at this. And even more so knowing that's their goal. Many of them want to get attacked so they can pursue it, which is even worse than just getting autographs for ebay or whatever that guy's deal was.
