hi, i'm looking at cameras with 4:2:2 and 3 CCD chips. i was wondering what cameras out there even have these options that i can compare, i've had trouble organizing a list. i know the hvx fits the bill.
i also believe its cmos but does the sony hvr series have 4:2:2?
Nope--Sony's HVR series (I'm assuming you're referring to the Z1U, V1U, and Z7U) does not record in 4:2:2, and, with the exception of the Z1U, neither do they have CCD chips. All HDV cameras, all AVCHD cameras, and all XDCAM EX cameras record in 4:2:0. Panasonic's DVCPRO HD cameras (HPX170/HVX200a) are the only cams under $10000 that fit both of your requirements. However, if you wanted to spend a little more, you could get an HD-SDI solid state recorder (I believe covergent designs makes one) and plug it into the EX1 or XL H1.
I know that the XH-A1 will capture 4:2:2 in to a card such as the blackmagic feeding from the rca outputs. I am not sure what is streamed live on firewire but if it is 4:2:2 a firestore could work well. Just a heads up, the HDV spec is 4:2:0 so anything that records on HDV tape instead of some solid state will automatically be 4:2:0
