Cameras on a Raft

One of the projects I'm doing this summer involves the DP shooting on a raft with 3 other people. Equipment and other crew will be in rafts behind us, but i'm curious about the water safety of the camera...and capturing sound.

Would you recommend keeping the camera in an underwater housing? Even though we will be shooting on a raft the entire time?

What about water safety regarding sound equipment?

Based on the parameters of our project we will probably be shooting on a DSLR.

Any suggestions for shooting on water would be appreciated!

Yup, you can pretty much guarantee the camera will get splashed or dunked at some point, an underwater housing would be very good insurance. I believe waterproof mikes are also available, but they could be expensive and would require special waterproof connectors.

Um yeah. Not even sure about the river you'll be floating but Damn straight that things gonna get wet. Water proof ALL electronics. FO SHO!!!!
