Reset your text's position and then adjust the text to fit the wall. Make sure your text's axes are parallel to your wall's - x with x, y with y, z with z.
You should be able to adjust the text to get it perfect, but the text will still float with the wall because the information is saved in the null object.
I do this all the time at work, so I know it works, but there is probably a disconnect - I would need to see your project to figure out what's going wrong.
