Camera Stabilizer Systems?

I know this has been discussed before but with time comes new tech and new prices. I am looking to buy a camera stabilizer system with a vest. My question is what is the best value for the price? I am completely a noob when it comes to this so any input would be nice.

If you can possibly come up with $2600, the Steadicam Merlin with vest is probably the ticket. There are lower priced setups, but most have drawbacks, such as higher weight of the sled, etc.
