Camera Slide?

Hey Guys

Just a quick one - what is a Slide used for on top of a tripod? Like the one from Indifocus?
Does it act like a sort of dolly or something?

As you can tell, i have no idea at the moment what its used for. . . .

Yes it is like a dolly but it is for very subtle or short moves. The advantage of its size is that it can be put in places a large dolly can not.

For instance these 'sliders' are small enough to place on a table or other areas Some companies have ones which can be mounted to the hood of a car and other unique places. Try doing small camera moves across hallways, small rooms, on a table, on a car hood, and etc. with this:

Haha, i like the image. . .

I figures as much with the Slider. Just seemed to be one of the only things around that i haven't seen info on. I guess they're not that widely used. . .
