Camera shading in a broadcast environment

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has a link to an article or video that describes in detail the process of properly shading/painting cameras in a broadcast environment. Essentially trying to match 2/3 cameras using CCU's.

I've searched google, but can't really find a good article that describes the process from beginning to end in detail

Thanks.

Are you talking about calibrating the cameras for consistent color before the show or adjusting iris during the show? Shading generally refers to adjusting iris live on the air.

Sorry, I guess I should have said camera painting to have them match(consistent colour). We have a ChromaDuMonde chart by DSC Labs. More specifically, looking for guidance on using a waveform an vectorscope to properly adjust the CCU. This is in an analog studio environment. Hitachi Z-3000 cameras with RC-Z3 remote panels.

THanks,

i've looked at that website before. Its good for shading, but in terms of painting cameras and adjusting RGB values there really isn't any information.

The Chroma DuMonde chart makes a nice X pattern on the waveform due to the grayscale chips. The vectorscope pattern should hit each target, and depending on which design you have you'll get intermediate points that (should) be evenly spaced. Something like this: http://provideocoalition.com/images/uploads/MX-Tungsten-RedColor.jpg

Once everything's on target, then the show is just a matter of riding iris to make sure everything stays exposed.
