Camera placement and audio tips for filming a performance?

I'm filming a local band performance later this week which I've never done before, I'm curious about recording the audio which I'm hoping you guys could help me with. My plan is to have one (hopefully two) stationary camera on each side of the stage and one handheld on a shoulder mount. All are miniDV with onboard mics, but I do have a boom that I can plug into one of the stationarys. It has two settings - normal and tele, I'm assuming I should keep it on the shotgun setting but where would I want to point it ideally? I don't think a direct feed from the soundboard is going to be an option. Also, I don't have a way to monitor the audio for the stationary mic with the shotgun attached, anything I should know to avoid audio distortion or clipping? No crew, it's only me.

While I'm on the topic actually, does something like this look about right for a multi-angle setup? If the place is larger I'd move the camera on the right further back.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

EDIT: Looks like I have a narrow area to work with.

If it's gonna be a music video, you'll use their cd recording for usio and just cut to it. If you want live audio, just take a feed from the house's mixer. You'll be manning at least one camera and won't be able to ride audio levels at the same time. PLus, you'll want it to sund the best it can. You can leave your mics at ahome.

He says pulling audio from the house mixer may not be an option. Even if it is, it may be less than ideal.

Looks like a very tough situation from an audio standpoint. Wish you luck! (I'd offer advice, but Lord knows I'm no audio expert. Hope someone here can help.)

I would have the shotgun set up dead center and as far back as you can get it. Then try to adjust the audio levels while the band is sound checking. You could just set the levels low so it does not clip and then just leave it. That's probably the best you are going to get.
