Camera iris and 35mm adapter

Hey! I haven't got my adapter yet, but it is coming soon. Before the day it arrives I have some questions. I've heard that it’s different to adjust the iris on the camera then adjusting the iris on the lens when you are using a 35mm adapter. Is that because the picture is being projected on the ground glass? If that’s so, since there is a little light loss from the optics in the adapter, isn't there a slightest possibility that a picture would be overexposed before you get as much light as you want?

Hello, i have a G35 Cinemek and an EX1 Zacuto Rig. Adjusting the Iris on the lens gives you your true f stop of the lens , the Iris on the camera works more like overall exposure. Working with both of them helps get the overall look and removes or adds the GG grain, Hope that helps

I just wonder if the picture gets overexpo before it should because of the light loss in the 35mm adapter?

F.ex:
At a bad adapter with much light loss - lens iris full open - A picture that is overexpo but still dark.

To adjust the amount of light, use the camera's iris.

To adjust the amount of depth of field, adjust the aperture of the lens on the 35mm adapter.

You have to play around with these two in order to find the specific look you want for each shot.

Cheers,
Ryan
