camera insurance ? (cost)

Can anybody give me even a rough idea of what production equipment insurance might cost to cover e.g. a $30,000 RED camera for a 2-4 week production? (i figure outside of production, homeowner insurance might cover it from theft etc while in my house).

Every site I go to on the web that sells such insurance won't tell you straight up, they want you to contact them and i am not at that phase yet and don't care to have insurance agents annoying me with calls and email and sharing that to spammers etc. I do not even have a RED camera yet, but am considering one, but having it covered against theft, accidental damage, etc. during a production would be crucial given the cost of such a camera.

I would be surprised if your home owners policy covered professional film gear left in your home.

Call your insurance agent who you have your auto and home owners insurance with, and ask them for a quote on adding a rider for the film gear. Be honest with them on what you are doing and where the gear will be used, so they can give you the best coverage options.

is this your camera or someone elses?

check out photo.net equipment insurance, it's for stuff you own, though you could ask them about covering stuff that isn't yours. worth a shot. it's like 400ish for the year that amount and includes liability
