Camera Frame rate adjusting

Can anyone recommend any cameras within the last 10 or 12 years that I can change the frame rates manually? old and new... for example 24fps to 18fps as if I wanted to shoot a silent film, or undercranking the camera if you will..

All the Sony cameras that have S&Q Motion (which is all the cinema and ENG cameras) can undercrank at any frame rate you want from 1 fps up to 60 fps. Some cameras will go above that in jumps to 100, 120, 180, 240 etc.

But you can't ramp the frame rate while recording, if that is what you are trying to do.

Actually, I'm sorry, I misread. Some of them have standard increments, some of them can be dialed in exactly by 1 frame.

Those OGs only go up to 30p and I think they just offer the standard framerates (IIRC).

I don’t know about the last generation of VariCams(V35 & LT), but the tape(27F & H) and the P2(2700) can be manually ramped while shooting. You can do it both on the camera and with a “paintbox”

Does those older Varicams hold up today still you think?

I still own two P2 Vari's and shoot with them regularly enough(did a couple of two cam live network shows yesterday/last night). 99% of what I use them for, now, is all network/broadcast/live work, but I still think they produce a good 24p image. Shooting "24p" content with them(like for feature pieces) started to fall by the wayside within a few years after the OG C300 came out, but I had to shoot some footage for a feature piece last summer with one of mine and I had forgotten how good the "24p image" looked from it, as from about 2015 on, I've mostly been shooting 24p(23.98) on either an F55 or Amira. Besides them being 3 chip's, CCD's and overall great "color science", I think the lower resolution(720p native) actually helps give it such a pleasing image.

The Varicam 27f Ive managed to actually convert a good 1080p of recording out of it, but haven't tested an actual project with it, I was wondering if I can get away with it, without anyone noticing, but i'm not sure
