For the last two years we've had a student news network at my school, and the equipment used was student owned.
For the upcoming year (I graduated) the school wants to keep the program going, and asked me to help moderate it in the beginning. They also asked for me to put together a budget.
I'm wondering if any camera manufacturers or resellers give educator discounts.
As for a computer for editing, I might either build a cheap PC for the program, or see if we can get an educators discount from apple. The school has legitimate copies of FCP and Premiere so either platform works.
I was thinking something along the lines of a lower end or used 3CCD mini DV camera, GS or TRV series + rhode videomic.
thanks!
