Camera Cart Size? 30" Too Small? Anyone own an Inovativ or Proaim?

I am about to purchase an Inovativ Evo cart and I can't decide between the 36" or the 30" cart size. 30" is the smallest cart size that Inovativ makes. Proaim makes a 32". Does anyone here own a 30" camera cart? And if so, what do you think about a cart that size? I really like the small form factor and weight of the Inovativ 30" Evo (only 58 pounds) but at the same time I'm fearful that the shelf size may be too small. I don't want it to be annoying when I'm building a camera on it.

I am throwing this cart in the back of Toyota FJ Cruiser. It's just me loading it, so the small size/weight is appealing. The 36" has a shelf size of 35" x 23" and it is 76 pounds. It is also 40" x 25" x 8" when folded up. The 30" has a shelf size of 29" x 19" which is pretty small. For reference a Pelican 1510 is 22" x 14" x 9". But the 30" cart is also only 58 pounds and 34" x 21" x 8" when folded up.

If anyone owns the Inovativ 30" or 36" carts (or the Proaim 32") I'd love to hear what your experience has been. I'm having a hard time deciding.

Its ass long as a peice of string. But Id have one that is big.. bt not beigger than an a size not catered for bylocal regulations.

Ie Id have one with the footprint of a loaded wheelchar.. which sounds longer than 30in.

As it get smaller it is less stable, going up a 6in kerb makes a more accute angle etc.

That's a good point. A larger cart provides a wider wheelbase and therefore a more stable system. I don't think I'd go larger than 36" though, since I want to be able to load it into my car with all my other equipment.

The 30" version is the most amount of money for the least amount of cart. I'd only consider the 30" if you think the larger sizes would be too heavy to load/unload and the 30" wouldn't be too heavy.

What about a rock n roller multicart r12 with top shelf @$430 and treat it as an experiment and form your own opinion about the ideal cart size - bigger/same length but wider, more add ons required etc.

And if you don't actually need the inovativ option you'll have three thousand (US) dollars left to spend!

Thanks. I actually already own the R12 Stealth and while it’s gotten a lot of use over the years, I’m tired of its janky, unstable nature. Also the wheels don’t come off easily and it takes up a lot of space in my car with all the loose shelves and accessories. I just got a big hamper bag for it so I’m still gonna use the R12 to hold lighting gear and stands. But I really want a light, compact and professional cart for my camera and lenses.

I'm sorry, I didn't realise I was speaking with a seasoned cart head! In that case, with the RnR's smaller shelf, can that be used for jobs that demand less equipment while the inovativ gets used for more involved and higher paying projects?

Do you really need to detach the RnR wheels each time? Will it still fit with wheels on and vertical bars collapsed? I agree the R12 feels janky, even if it never actually breaks!

I personally would be only buying the largest option that doesn't cause problems navigating tigher spaces. But I understand the desire for something that's even more compact. Maybe you could use cardboard to mock up the inovativ shelf footprints and take them for a spin on the multicart to see which one you'd prefer working with.

You've probably already seen this thread but just in case https://www.dvxuser.com/forum/off-to...2-camera-carts

I have the biggest of the Innovativs, I think it's 42"? And there's almost never been a time when I've regretted having the extra realestate.

I'd suggest doing some gear layout rehearsals - tape out the measurements of the cart shelves you're considering, and then trying packing the basics you'll need every time, into those taped out areas.

That's the easiest way to be clear on what you can and can't get away with.

Thanks. That puts things into perspective. I decided to opt for the 36". The Inovativ 36" is only $100 more than the 30". I was originally looking at the 30" because it looked easier to fly and travel with. It's also only 58 pounds when folded up. But the 36" isn't that much heavier and it comes with 10" tires (instead of 8" on the 30"). It seems like the extra real estate on the top deck for building cameras is worth the added bulk/weight.

I marked off the space of a 30" in my garage and it is pretty darn restrictive. The length is okay (30”) but the width is what kills me. The shelf space of the 30” model is 19”. The width on the 36” model is 23.5”. A 19” wide top deck is very small. If you place one Pelican 1510 case on there it basically fills up the entire shelf.

I've actually been searching for someone with a 30" cart across multiple forums and all I've been able to find was someone selling one because they felt it was too small. They wanted to get a 36" instead, lol. So I guess that kind of answers my question right there.
