I'm in preproduction on a feature that should qualify for SAG's "Ultra Low Budget Agreement." I'm not currently a signatory of the Guild, and intend to cast the film with non-union actors, but am also thinking of approaching 1 or 2 well-known SAG actors to see if they might appear in cameos, playing themselves.
Based on everyone's collective experience: does the presence of SAG actors in CAMEO parts do much to improve a film’s chances of getting picked up by a distributor, assuming the film itself is decent? Becoming a signatory is a pretty involved process, and it’s something I’m hesitant to do unless there are real advantages.
Thanks.
