Camcorder insurance

I am thinking about taking the leap, but since this is such a HUGE investment, I am thinking of insuring it. Would it be covered under homeowners insurance? Has anyone specifically insured something like this? Thanks, I am nervous, can you tell?

Re: Camcorder insurance

It should be covered under your homeowners policy, but check with your agent. Sometimes you have to specifically list big ticket items. Even if you do, I don't think your policy will increase. You should already be covered for a certain dollar amount for the contents of your home.

CAUTION: An item as expensive as this will need to be "listed" with your insurance company to cover the full amount. Also, if you use the DVX at all for any professional stuff, your home owners' policy will not cover it. You need to get a specific policy for pro equipment, which is a different ball game.

Re: Camcorder insurance

I had renters insurance which covered left. It was $15,000 of coverage for $150/year. Served me well in my freelancing days. Even covered me when I went overseas.
