A Remarkable Value

The system is amazingly flexible, designed to assemble into many configurations quickly and easily. Each block contains its own servo motor, gearing and micro-electronics; all housed in a quality machined anodized aluminum body. Modules can be configured to work as: pan axis, tilt axis, dolly, underslung hot head, product movers, lens controls, and more. Use them individually or connect them together and use many at once.

You control it all with a handheld computer running the camBLOCK software, utilizing a familiar timeline/keyframe interface. You can synchronously control 1 to 16 camBLOCKS simultaneously to create simple to complex motion control.

The camBLOCK System represents a remarkable value, making motion control more affordable than ever before.

Modular

The camblock system consists of motion control camBLOCKs that can be connected together to create camera movements such as pan, tilt, dolly, etc. The blocks are held together with specialized connecting hardware and mounts. One to sixteen blocks can be used simultaneously in a system. With this modular design your system can be as simple or complex as you need it to be. You can use a single block for simple single axis camera moves, or connect multiple blocks for a pan/tilt/dolly configuration, possibly use blocks as product movers, and even add lens controls, to create complex camera moves. You decide how simple or elaborate you want to make it.

Compact and Light Weight

The camBLOCK system is very compact, with each camBlock weighing only six pounds. A completely assembled pan/tilt configuration weighs only 7.5 pounds. This compact and lightweight design allows you to transport your motion control system to soundstages, remote locations, and even mountaintops. When traveling by airplane you can even check your system as luggage while staying under airline weight restrictions.

Easy to Use

The camBLOCK software is run on a Pocket PC in language easy for camera operators to understand. The software uses a familiar timeline / keyframe styled interface to control the camera movements. You simply position your camera where you want it and add a keyframe on the timeline. By placing multiple keyframes at different times on the timeline you can create complex fluid moves. Like a move you made? Moves can be saved and opened for later use.

Run at Any Speed

Once you have set up your shot, you can play it back at any speed (up to the maximum motor speed). Run it faster if you think the move is too slow, or run it extremely slow for timelapse. There is no slow limit, you can turn a 30 second real time move into an all day timelapse. You can even composite real time and timelapse shots to be composited together.

Unique Motion Timelapse

Pioneered by director/cameraman Steve McWilliams, synchronized timelapse allows you to shoot multiple timelapse shots simultaneously, multiplying your productivity. When shooting timelapse you typically shoot one frame at a time, waiting several seconds between shots. With syncronized timelapse you set up several shots, and the camBLOCK system will shoot them simultaneously, utilizing the previously wasted time between shots.

Stop Frame Animation (future feature)

In this mode, you can shoot your camera move (or moves!) one frame at a time. Great for animation. You can even set up multiple camera moves so you animate once but get several shots.

Real Time Remote Head (future feature)

With the addition of the joystick module you can remotely control the head in real time. You can even adjust the speed and feathering of the movements allowing the control to be quick and responsive to smooth and elegant. Great for use as a remote head on the end of a jib arm.

Live Move Recording And Playback (future feature)

With the additon of the joystick module, you can record live moves and run that same move back at any speed, allowing you to create freeform live feeling motion control shots.
