I've getting some greatly reduced prices from US sites for the Marshall lcd70p (for example) if i was importing to the UK what extra would i have to pay over extra shipping prices... VAT , import tax, and other fees?

Kind regards
Jon

Because of the weak exchange rate at the moment I personally wouldn't bother. By the time you add import duties and shipping fee's the few hundred dollars you'd be saving isn't worth it. If you buy the same unit from a UK supplier at least you'd have technical support for any problems and returning the unit wouldn't be a hassle.

Don't get me wrong. I always buy kit Globally but the exchange rate sucks just now and it just isn't worth doing it at this moment in time.

For example:

I can buy a Zeiss ZF 21mm Lens in the US or Japan for $1491 (US) + Shipping at $46 (US) TOTAL=$1537 (US). After paying import duties (anything between $200 and $400) the TOTAL COST would then be $1737 (US) Minimum.

I can buy the same lens at Robert White and Co. for £1380 (inc. VAT). The cost difference between the imported unit and local, based on todays exchange rate would be a £230 (GBP) saving.

You have to ask yourself is it worth saving £230 and not have the support of a local supplier never mind the hassle of paperwork you'd have to print out if you had to return the item (back to the USA) if it was faulty.

In the current climate I'd buy local.

I got prices in the UK at (£886 + vat) £1018.5 for a Marshall monitor.

On Bhphotovideo its $1010 delivered (if import tax is same as VAT at 15%) = Approx £763

I'm not sure £255 pounds extra is worth the piece of mind....?
