California State Fair

Anyone planning on attending this year? I will be going a couple times. I just read their page and learned that the theme this year is Superstars and Superheros (http://www.bigfun.org/fair/ExhibitsAttractions/index.asp):

BAM! The California State Fair is featuring "Superstars and Superheroes" for 2006, with a super-sized wallop of BIG FUN for everyone!

SLAM! Hold on to your hat as caped superheroes and glamorous celebrity look-alikes swoop and swing against a backdrop of fantastic excitement!

KAPOW! Feel the energy of Gotham City with the Batmobile at the all-new Hall of Heroes - a Superheroes Exhibit, showcasing the action of comic book heroes and adventurers like Indiana Jones and the Lone Ranger to Zorro and Spiderman!

ZONK! Dance and groove with the jamming live entertainment the California State Fair is famous for, with Blues & Brews tunes, the lively rhythms of the all-new Hussong's Cantina, and a celebrity line-up of chart-topping musicians at the Golden 1 Stage!

GEE WILLICKERS! Enjoy the memorable favorites of the Golden State's favorite Fair, with the rides and games of the Magnificent Midway, the playful farm animals of the Livestock Pavilion, the charm of the Demonstration Farm, the excitement of the Toyota Xtreme Zone, Bull Fest, and so much more!

Well, to "check it out" requires a bit of travel on your part as it's in Sacramento (the state capitol for the un-initiated).

When Schwarzenegger was running for governor he showed up out at the fair...I got to shake his hand.

How recently? Why didn't you tell me you were in the area? I live just 20 minutes outside of Sacramento and venture into the city at least once a week.

oh... really? like a couple months ago.. (I think) WAIT! No... that was LAST year... ok... nevermind... I didn't really know you very well back then... it was last year I was up there for a convention or something... nice place :)

Rumor has it that someone back east is trying to develop a machine that will deep fry strips of potatoe but I think it's all media hype and wishful thinking.
