Calibrating monitor with Spyder 3

Hi all...

So I just bought a new refurb gateway LCD monitor, and no matter how I try to calibrate it the picture is so dark when Im cutting in FCP. Its just so vastly different than what it was in camera I cant even attempt to do minor CC at all.

I was looking into buying a Spyder 3 calibration tool, however its mostly for still photgraphers. Anyone have any experience using one of these for cutting in FCP and CC in color?

a computer monitor will not be accurate for FCP or Color no matter what kind of spyder/pantone calibration unit you use. Those units do not calibrate the monitor to broadcast specs.

if you MUST use that monitor, then you need a Matrox MXO. however, you're better off with an actual broadcast monitor.
