Re: cadence pulldown error

Actually, is there anything wrong with selecting Tools>Remove Advanced Pulldown, right in FCP?

Re: cadence pulldown error

ether,

there's no problem doing that. since i had footage shot directly into a quickstreamdv, this is what i did and works like a charm. no need to go to cinema tools.

Re: cadence pulldown error

Thanks, boo. I have one question, though..does removing the pulldown in FCP change the source timecode of the clips, making it impossible to recapture the clips with the correct timecode?
Getting "broken vfr/cadence pulldown" error on capture. Here's the config:
1.5ghz PowerBook G4, 2gb ram, LaCie 250gb fw800 drives, FCPHD, OS10.3.3, QT 6.5.1
shooting with DVX-100a at 24pA, playing back from Sony DSR-11, capturing in FCP HD with advanced pulldown removal pre-set makes it crash.
Apple didn't have much insight... wondering if anyone here is having this problem and can help??? We're mid-project and it seems that the only option is to un-install and go back to FCP 4.1.1...
Insights anyone??
Probably not the same thing, but I had a similar experience today on the 17" PB, using a FW400 pocket drive and the DVX-100A. I decided I had better try capturing using the 100A, since I will be going to the U.K. and won't have a deck. I have never used the DVX-100A to capture before.

I got the "cadence pulldown error" during captures into FCPHD. I had everything set right in FCP, then I noticed that I was using the second DVX-100A, which was set to F1. I had shot the footage on the other 100A using F6, so I turned the dial to F6, captured again and everything worked.

Not sure that helps...

Re: cadence pulldown error

I also am getting "broken vfr/cadence pulldown" error on capture, running panther on a dual 2Gig G5. I have found this error in capture now as well as logged footage during batch capture.

Has anyone found this error while NOT extracting 24p Advanced footage from the DVX100(A)? I suspec that this is an error on the tape itself, happening during the internal camera pulldown process. If you can find the TC where the failure occurs, you will see a "motion hop" in the playback. I am seeing this on playback and have found that the only workaround is to avoid the "bad spot" on the tape.

This fits with the user who captured without extraction and used Cinema Tools to extract later; the clips containing the errors could not be extracted.

Perhaps this is a hardware problem and the question goes to Panasonic? Low battery? Heat? Humidity? Dirty heads?
