Cactus Pt-04 V2s

I Finally recieved this wireless trigger from Hong Kong but I am still having a few expected problems from this device. It is a very cheaply made device but that was to be expected considering it functions like a pocket wizard but is 1/5th the price.

The issue I've been having with it is getting the flash to fire when the reciever is activated. The transmitter activates the reciever just fine but somewhere between the connection of the reciever and the flash there is some connection that is having an issue. At first I thought it was an incompatablitly issue between the 430ex and the reciever but then I realized that if I shift the battery within the reciever a little it works. Bottom line is that there is so little space in the reciever that once the cover is put on, things push on eachother which causes the connection to the flash to get interupted. I've tried putting aluminum foil around some areas and while I've gotten some positive results, the internal circuites still get jumbled and all of a sudden the flash stops firing. DivotDan, have you had this issue? If I can get this issue resolved, it seems like a pretty good flash trigger, especailly for $35.

I picked up a little sensor thingy cheap a a local snap shop. It's really just a light sensor that senses flash then fires the attached flash gun. It will work one time then the flash gun locks up and will not respond again until I remove the batteries, put them back in and hit the power button. I had to go through this routine for every triggered flash shot.

i use the Cactus V1's they suck. I've switched over to Paul C. Buff's Cyber Sync triggers. Fairly cheap and the quality is excellent. If you can afford pocket wizards, they're still the best, but you have to pay.

I haven't had that issue with mine, but I have had a lot of people report that the batteries that come with the triggers have 2 issues. 1) they are junk. While I have not replaced mine, I have heard a lot of people say they had to replace theirs to get any decent usage. 2) They are delivered with a plastic around the batteries that it is hard to notice until you actually take the batteries out of the transmitter/receiver. Some people get positive results once they remove the plastic.

Hope you figure out the issue soon and can get to shooting!

yeah, it took me about an hour to realize there was plastic on the supplied battery. It seems that when everything internally is in the correct position the flash is actually reliable but then something small bumps the device and I have to fix it again. I'll post some pictures here once I have time to get it working.
