I plugged my Arri 300w and nothing happened.
After a while I found out that the connection of the cable to the light was messed up. If I moved it around it would light.
So, there is something wrong with the connection.
You'll have to open it up and figure out what wire is loose and get it connected properly. It's probably a pretty simple fix, but if you're not comfortable doing it, find someone who's good with electrical. It's probably a 5-10 minute fix.
Replace the bad part of the cable with a section that works. I would probably cut straight through the whole thing a few inches away from the head, remove whatever is left sticking out (some disassembling will be necessary), and reconnect the rest of the cord to the head.
the wire in the silicon cables fitted to these lights is susceptible to breaking with continual use. it is not always visible to the eye.
and is usually at the plug end which tends to get all the abuse.
try cutting the plug off about six inches from the end and rewire it back on.
if it still doesnt work it must be at the head end, in that case take it to a licensed electrician.
Okay. I haven't looked into it much. Noticed it wasn't working, and knew it was the cable and just moved on as I was in a rush.
So, this wouldn't be some big hard task that a professional needs to do.. Okay.
I just don't know the complexity of the light, so I wasn't sure if there is something I am unaware of. Guess not.
One of my Arris had a similar issue. I determined the open circuit was near the plug. I took the plug apart with a screwdriver and removed the wires from their contacts inside the plug - being careful to note where each wire went. I, then, cut about 3 inches of the cable off, stripped the wires, reconnected them to the inside of the plug, and screwed the plug back together. I plugged it in and it worked great with no more problem.
This may be the same thing (open circuit) that you are experiencing. Maybe the loose connection is near (or inside) the fixture instead of near the plug but you should be able to determine that and repair it if that's the problem.
