Cable Cam Fab Edit

Sweet! I've been interested in building a cheap cable cam setup but didn't think it would be possible. You've renewed my interest!

NICE !!

Maybe a little knot on the end might help or some sort of rubber stopper. Looks really good and can't wait to see some footage.

im surprised how steady, to some degree it was. my cable cam is generally the same idea/layout but it shakes like fricken hell
your's makes me wana redesign mine.

My next step is to use a fishing reel with like 20lb test. Use one of the deep sea fishing reels with a thumb break on them that way i can put it at more of an aggressive angle and control the speed of decent. Also when the skier is done i can just reel the camera back to me :)

thats actually an interesting idea, i just think reeling it back might take a long long time but i guess it depends on how long your cable is. like mines 300ft so it would take a while for me but 100ft isnt bad i guess... i fish alot with my dad so i know what your talking about reel wise

If you have any recommendations on reels with good brakes i would be interested in that. I am clueless when it comes to fishing.

ummm i dont think you would need a deep sea fishing reel
a reel you would use to fish for springs and sockey and such in fresh water rivers would be enough. springs can get up to 40 - sometimes 50 and higher pounds in the fraser river
and the reels hold up no problem. its the fishing line you just need to worry about. just get braided fishing line, 80 pound test
its super thing yet super strong

I got a Bait Cast reel and 80lb test braided line. I most likely wont get to test it this weekend i am still getting used to my XH A1 and need to spend time on that first. Besides after building a jump for 4 hours i dont want to spend another 2 to set up my cable cam. Most likely next weekend after the mountian opens and i can get a Snow Cat to bring everything up i will get some shots.
