C500 UK price confirmation

Which is about the same as Scarlet?

So scarlet.. raw + more for Prores

The others = onboard compression + more for raw recorder

BMC = both!
 
...apparently there's going to be some big RED announcement today (guess they held off til Sony showed their hand) I believe it's something to do with a price crash on the EPIC, but not sure if this will affect the SCARLET as well now?
 
Let's say the C500 does drop to the 20k or less rumored price of an F5... then for the original price you could get the 4k Aja recorder... be able to shoot 4k, 2k... get the higher frame rates now... or just shoot 2k to save on storage and editing space... the F5 & F55 the 2k comes later... really do like the modular idea behind the f's and the global shutter on the F55... just thinking... since the C500 is out now...
 
Why would the C500 price drop? It just started shipping today. The price is US $25,999, period, fixed, flat rate, same as at all dealers. It won't be dropping.

As of today, all scarlets will be upgraded to Epics(via firmware+modification), and all Epics are to be upgraded to Dragon. Cost of upgrades to be announced in couple of hours.
 
The say a price reduction... but we'll let you upgrade your camera for a fee....

Price reduction for the new Epic(ex scarlet) & Dragon(ex Epic) cameras.
Existing Scarlet & Epic users will have the upgrade option possibly for a small fee.
{Only logical strategy 'win / win' for everybody -including Sony}
 
If the scarlets becoming an Epic - well might have to look at that option again.

On the C500 - remember the -$3000 for existing C300 owners.

We do not have an answer for that until the new ASIC comes out of the oven.. But we will do our best to make sure there is some upgrade path from Scarlet to Dragon. Just don't know what that looks like yet.

So Scarlets are not becoming Epics, I was wrong. Small upgrading fee for Epic (to Dragon) is $6000...
