C300 is up for sale at BH.

and ya know what's nice about ordering something like that? when you order it, it will ship!

ok i couldn't resist a red joke, but i AM wearing a red colored shirt right now... but it has a moose instead of a camera

I'm going to hold off any continue with the FS100 for now. I spent A LOT of time debating it and I think I'm going to follow Canon's advice, wait and see what they have coming. I LOVE the image out of the C300, it really does look fantastic. But, I also use the 1080p60 on my FS100 quite a bit, and I can't afford both.

That said, I cannot wait to see more people using them and I hope to rent one to test out just because I do like the form factor. :)

The FS100 lives on, long live.....
Now for an eos adapter that controls iris!!!
Is it worth it to try the consus for $400

Nope. No 8 bit camera that can't even shoot 1080 at 60 fps is worth that kind of dough to me. For others - I'm guessing doc guys - this camera will be worth every penny.

Add to that the very funky form factor (XLR inputs/LCD screen add on in particular), and it's very much a niche camera. Phil Bloom's Christmas shoot out showed how amazing the FS100 can look for a third of the money. The FS100 may not be quite as good as the Canon, but I wouldn't want to live on the difference - and I sure won't be paying for it either.

Perhaps if were a 10 bit camera and if it had killer slo-mo capacities, then perhaps.

If you buy the camera and both of the cinema zoom lenses that come up on the same search page, it comes to only $103,000 or so. I wonder if they could swing a discount for ordering the whole package?

Like Rick, I'm impressed with the images I've seen. Not $16K worth, but still impressed.

There are already a variety of threads about this topic, let's keep these discussions in those topics.

For the MFT adapter, head here:

For the Conurus adapter:

Thanks!

Same as rick, no 1080p60 is a massive killer for me, and with that 16k price tag, the F3 with an external recorder is looking like the route I will take, or I'll just go straight to an F65....... ;-)

Who's in at this price?

At this price, I want to hang back and wait for alot more user reports, and to see how the industry embraces this camera. I better start hearing from alot of DPs that IQ from this cam is an Alexa for only $16K. Plus I'm thinking this is the first generation, and that's going to be painful when they announce the C350 with 60P, 1080P in a year. They pushed this out the door to get something on the market, and no doubt, it's a great cam. But the engineers are working on the 2nd generation now, and they'll have the time they need to address the things that people see as shortcomings in this model.

There are so many things in the pipeline this year that are still unknowns like the 5DIII, T4i with Digic V, and Canon's cinema DSLR. And seriously, Canon is just going to let FS100 and AF100 dominate the $5K segment???? Those are four big "?".

Also I'd like to see more out of the D4 as far as IQ goes. Other than that unknown, Nikon has covered alot of bases with the D4.

I can keep getting by with the 5DII until those "?" are resolved. I think we'll see the price/performance barrier be shattered even further over the next couple of years. Until then, I'm not quite feeling compelled to give up the 5DII. Almost but not quite.

Show me a much less edge enhanced looking image from this camera and then,,,,,I will start to like it. It's funny how people clamour around the latest and greatest camera out there. Give it a few months when folks start using it and then we'll see the hoopla die down a bit. It's just another expensive tool.

This marketplace is pretty upside down at the moment. A look at Philip Blooms last two shootouts really shows this. $1,000 cameras are competing with $16,000 cameras. DSLRs are coming out that will be priced around $5-$6,000 that will have a great image. I don't know how Canon would make an AF-100 competitor as many think the C300 should be priced under $10,000. What is the real value of these cameras? Sensor size & resolution seemed to be the pricing attributes that determined the "value" of cameras in the past. Clearly we are in a new, confusing era.

As one who shoots video & stills the 1Dx is looking prety good on paper. I just don't see the C300 at $16,000 being a big seller.

Well, there are some folks to whom $16,000.00 is not that much for a camera. I am not one of them, but I think that they will sell pretty briskly. I bet we see a lot of the footage on TV very shortly.

There were some spectacular things done over the weekend with my canon 5d. I'm good for a while. Thanks anyway canon.
