C300 and C100 Price Drop $6500 and $3000

Recently shot a whole group of shots for a commercial as pickup shots at 60i and 1/120th shutter. It was to match a Red Epic shot at 60fps and 120fps. Converted in FCPX and output as ProRes 1080 24p. Looked great broadcast on HDTV. No brainer.

Thats great if your able to convert it for a client before delivery - thats not always an option and I don't see how transcoding a camera file before delivery is worth it over just shooting the right frame rate in the first place. Why add the extra step? What if you shot 6 hours of footage - that conversion will take a while.

External recorder? Sure, but why add the cost and complication if I could just get it right in-camera?

Don't you lose a lot of the resolution doing this? Do 60i converted shots give as much resolution as the regular 24p shooting? I though interlaced footage converted from 60i to 60p or non interlaced always had like half the resolution?

You really should look at some of the 60i to 24p converted shots. They look great, so I guess it's a no brainer now?

Deinterlacing? Is it 1999 again? Why anybody would prefer this over real progressive? Doesn't look as good, knocks resolution and adds an extra step. What's to like?

You do know (well you don't) that 1080i60 has more resolution than 720p60?

Did I say it has less resolution than 720p? But real progressive will look better and no need for post work. I just don't see deinterlacing as any real alternative. Not in 2015.

Pretty sure he's not talking about 720p60......I think he's saying 1080i60
(converted to 1080 60p by interpolation) has about half the resolution of
shooting with a camera which will shoot 1080 60p in camera.
