C-stand to light ratio change

Just curious if with the use of more bowens mount and rgbw fixtures if any significant changes to what you bring to Set has changed. the 2 to 1 ratio cstand to light seems outdated, but perhaps not. Obviously every situation is different.

are you asking about not needing c stands for light modifiers? I don't see much difference, you still need flags and scrims. Gels get clipped on barndoors usually, unless you are using big lights, which haven't been replaced yet by new tech.

In many cases wouldn't the use of a sky panel/Gemini or rgbw fresnel eliminate the need for a scrim since you have precise control of the amount of light? I was thinking of the use of a gel roll on a cstand arm would be eliminated with rgbw instruments but point taken. The other question was on taping, clipping duvetyne or other material on the softbox or close to the instrument lense to cut or modify the light instead of using a traditional cstand and flag combo. Original question should have been if any of the above tools techniques have changed or will change how many cstands one brings to set.thanks.

In a nutshell, no. I did a shoot yesterday, had to drag out 14 C-stands but for lots of of other reasons besides lighting. Shot in a fishbowl all glass conference room, client requested a black box. Always a need for lots of C-stands even if they aren't being used directly for lighting.

Well you can use chimeras and snapgrids on a skypanel to control the light and at the same time making less of a need to flag off unwanted spray. But then there's time where you could use the skypanel bare as a light for the background. Then you may need to flag it off. It's a soft light and that's been around for a sec
