Buzzing sound.

My RODE NTG-2 on my DVX has been acting weird, and sometimes I get the odd buzzing noise. It's really annoying. Here is a clip of it, without the noise, and then with the noise.

It has occurred when just trying to record ambience noise. But sometimes it's fine. So weird.

Hi Robbie,

Could be a connection problem loosing your ground connection on the mic cabling or connector itself. Try wiggling things to induce the problem, then use an ohm meter to isolate the problem. I suppose it could be a broken wire inside the NTG if dropped, but that's unlikely.

For sure, especially a loose connection or solder joint on pin 1 (ground)
