Buzzing sound in background

Guys, We have a Audio-Technica 897 mic which went directly into the DVX. I got back from a shoot and there is a buzz that comes and goes in the background if various shots, can hear it clearly with headphones, pretty annoying, although the voices of the actors themselves are really good.

I'm not a sound guy. Two questions
Where is that from, mic, cables, boom stand, etc.. so I could avoid it in the future. Btw, we used an XLR cable extension if that has something to do with it...

Is there a way to sort of fix it a little in Post?

This article helped out a lot, although I'm not sure exactly what caused it for me:

Definitely, the XLR cables could have run next to the AC cables of my lights. I didn't pay close attention to this.
I also had a very long XLR extension connected and sometimes I didn't need it.
Perhaps, I also need to get a better quality XLR cable.
I think the mic volume could have been decreased too.

These are the possible culprits that could've occurred on the set.

UPDATE: I'm looking closely at my footage and I'm thinking it in fact is when the XLR cable came close to the AC cables from the lights....

Buzzing could be a lot of things; ground loop, AC noise, etc. In the future make sure to monitor your audio as you are recording.

If it is a 60hz noise you can take it out with a notch filter.

Cheers
