Buying from BWayPhoto.com

Re: Buying from BWayPhoto.com

Tell me why? dont just say no. I have a friend that bought a camera from there. And the Guy Matt (that 17 year old that filmed the DVX100 music videos) they both got a DVX100 from that site. Why isn't it good?

Re: Buying from BWayPhoto.com

I did see those things but I have friends that I know personally plus the guy on here that made the Uninvited video (Matt 17yr old) which all bought from bwayphoto.com and got everything they needed and was great. ANd plus its about almost 1000 less than some of those stores i see online.

Re: Buying from BWayPhoto.com

do you really want to trust a several thousand dollar piece of equipment to a place that has such bad reviews? I dont know about you, but im a student that had to give up a lot for this camera. Money certainly does not come easy for me. If you really can wager thousands of dollars than go for it. What if you had a problem with it? Do you really want to deal with such a company just to save some dollars which could potentially cost you more in the longrun? I'm glad it worked out for Matt, but so far he's the one person i've heard about that is satisfied with these guys....

It still amazes me how many posts this forum gets on this subject!  :P

Re: Buying from BWayPhoto.com

The thing is, i never revert to companies when products have problems. If they are selling it and its brand new then i would go to panasonic or some local people to get things fixed, I never bought something, had a problem then went back to that company to get it fixed. I wasn't thinking about buying it and having to use their customer support for anything later. i wouldn't but i do understand people do that sometimes. I know i will reasearch more but does anyone else know a really good place with really good prices to get the camera?

Re: Buying from BWayPhoto.com

OK what if you get it and it's DOA or some electronics is not functioning properly? It's happened! I've read about it. Also, do you really want to give up your Panny for weeks at a time to get things fixed if they're not properly working out of the box? Sorry man, but if you want cheaper prices either buy used from someone you trust or wait until prices go down and buy from a reliable company. Sket, I was the same as you. I looked everywhere for a bargain! I ended up buying it used from a trusted friend.

Re: Buying from BWayPhoto.com

I called BWayPhoto when I was gonna buy my 100. The price was unbelievable and I soon found out why. The salesman asked if I wanted a battery. Huh? Yeah, they send one that only last about 20min. they say. So, of course the price goes up. Then the kicker. He asked if I wanted the USA package, because the great price ($2399 at the time) was for the international package. I said, "What, you mean NTSC vs. PAL", and he said "No, camera printing and manual in Chinese." And I said, "Holy Crap! How much is the USA version?" Thus ended the good deal!

In other words, the price printed is not for what you want to buy. Don't do it, my friend.

Re: Buying from BWayPhoto.com

Oh, thanx alot, im glad more people posted with better responses. I understand more know and I will look into it more, anyone willing to sell me a DVX100a ?

Re: Buying from BWayPhoto.com

Dude, I linked you to about 2000 posts which pretty much all said exactly the same thing as above.

Re: Buying from BWayPhoto.com

I bought my camera from them. I got everything alright, but they were a pain in the ass. I would stay away, as previoulsy posted.

Re: Buying from BWayPhoto.com

Hehe, you got your DVX100a from them? Is the battery and the international problems posted above the same with your order?

I know you linked the posts to me but I feel better actually hearing from people that are actually talking TO ME, and not period you know?

I ordered a camera listed at $329 + $31 for next day shipping. Soon after I received an e-mail asking I call. I did call and was pressured to buy batteries that were included with Sony's package. I said no and then pressured to buy a kit with memory card and tripod. I finally agreed to $520 for the camera plus extras and when I looked on line they had posted $580 on my credit card. I paid $31 for next day delivery but the shipment was late so I refused shipment. I read on their website you need a return number so I e-mailed asking for one they replied saying e-mail customer service could not perform that function. I called and was told after arguing with them that he would fax me a form to fill and he would give me a number when the form was returned. I have not received that form. I called my credit card company and they said it would take 30 days before they could do anything. Bwayphoto also has a restocking fee they said of $60 in my case. At this point they have the camera back and my money so I am hoping for the best and expecting the worst.
you can see a picture of their fabulous store at:

Call your credit card company. Maybe it's not too late to stop payment. Tell them it's a fraud issue.

Fron your original link I copied and paste this:
Order Online And Receive A Free Tripod, Cleaning Kit, & A Mini DV Tape With Every MiniDV Camcorder Purchase (A $99.97 Value)

What you get is a P.O.S. tripod that probably will not even support the weight of the DVX.
Cleaning kit? Probably a consumer "cleaning" tape that you shouldn't use in the DVX.
And finally the tape should be the tape from the factory and not a consumer brand as it probably is.

All this tells me for sure it's a gray market model, if you even get it.

Buy from an authorized dealer like EVS (ask to speak to RUSH for the DVXUser.com discount) and you'll get the $500 rebate, the extra (as in 2 total) battery, I believe 10 GOOD tapes, Magic Bullet for editors software and most importantly you'll get Barrys book & DVD.

Just seems like common sense to me...
