Buying Frenzy!

Well, Shoppers fever has hit me and I'm planning on adding concierably to my roster of accessories for my new DVX100AE. What I'm planning on is a Tripod, A good Field/editing monitor, A Lighting Kit, a 35mm Adapter and probably some other misc. things.

I know tripods have been done to death and I have a fairly good working knowledge of the availble roster, though any recommendations are welcome

Same with the Monitor. Looking for a fairly mobile production monitor, preferably battery compatible for field work in the same price range. Would also use for CC and editing preview

I don't have very extensive knowledge on Light Kits, but I'm willing to spend in the 1K region on a good one.

I will be using this equpment mostly for dramatic purposes.

Any insights aregreatly welcomed :)

Get something bigger than a 501 head. I've never been 100% satisfied with it.

Production monitors are invaluable. See if you can a used one from either eBay or B&H. You don't realize just how much you need one until you screw up a shoot due to a lack of one. Been there, done that... and lucky I didn't get fired for it.

If you can afford more for lights, do it... I can't stress that enough. No, they won't automatically make your production look better... but they will give you more options. I'm a strong proponent of fresnel field lights; my open faced Lowels are increasingly getting less and less use as I buy Arris. If you can pop 2 grand... look at the Arri D1 kit.

If you have to go with open faced lights due to budget restrictions, go for the lowels. I've never had any problems with my Briteks (I have the 650 softbox and 200w open faced), but other people have... so be careful if you do.

Just my 2 cents.

David; what would you recommend for the best reasonably priced field monitor to compliment the dvx?
