Buying film on eBay...a bad idea?

I'm interested in buying some black and white film and was curious about buying on eBay. Not only for the savings, but also because it seems as though the film supply is drying up around here as more places switch to all digital. Does anyone have any experience with buying it this way, or is it just not a smart way to go? Thanks.

Just use normal eBay "buying rules": check feedback, see what other items are listed, etc.
Also make sure you see expiration date of film in pics. Many state that they stored in cool place/fridge but there's no way of telling of course.
