Buying Brevis35 from 2007, should I buy newer?

I can buy a Brevis 35 with a case for $600 CDN used on the net. What model would that be? What features might I be missing out on? Is there more light loss or problems in that adapter? It's either the Brevis35 or the Letus Extreme, whichever I can find first and cheap.

I've got the HPX170 so I'm not worried about flipping the image, etc.

Maybe Dennis will see this and chime in, but I'm guessing would be a Rev2. I would ask if it has the micro collimation adjustment. I'm thinking it might not. You can upgrade the motor to the current mp2 for around 200 bucks i think. If it doesn't have the micro collimation, then I think that's another upgrade around 150 or so. Also I would ask what cinescreen it has.

What does the better motor MP2 do? Is it faster? Do you lose less light? Or less likely to fail? I need to know if theres a light loss difference between the older 2007 models and the newer 2009 models. Is it like going from the M2 to the M2 Encore or is it simply cosmetic/engineering changes?

The light loss all depends on the Cinefuse element they have installed. If it is CF1/L then it will have the same sensitivity of all Brevis' from that era. I haven't kept up with any updates so I don't know if there is a new "standard" in their line.

I have a mid 2007 Brevis that I never sent in to be upgraded, because I never felt I needed it. It is a wonderful tool, well built that consistently delivers for me. Once I got it dialed in, I didn't need to change anything. That stands true to today, through the countless jobs (and conditions) I have done with it.
