Buying Advice DVX100+Kit

Hi folks,

Long time lurker, first time poster... and of course it's about advice on buying gear :-)

I'm getting ready to splash out on my first set-up to film events (i.e. clubs, concerts, etc) as well as shorts and documentaries.

The former should hopefully recoup some of the money I'm about to spend and the latter is my passion.

Soooo... my question is simple, what do you think of my shopping list?

- DVX 100 BE
- RODE NTG-2 Mic
- SM3 Shock Mount
- 1.5' XLR Cable
- Rode WIND MUFF f/NTG-1 / NTG-2
- Universal Microphone Hand Grip for Shockmounts
- Porta Brace RS-DVX100 Camcorder Rain Slicker
- Panasonic AY-DVM63AMQ 63 Minutes Mini DV Advanced Master Quality Tape (pack-o-ten)
- Canon FS-72U 72mm Filter Set
- Panasonic HOOD-100 LCD Monitor Hood
- Bogen / Manfrotto 351MVB2 Aluminum Video Tripod Kit with 75mm Half Bowl and 3460 (503) head
- DVXuser 5600mah Battery

If bought from b&h c. $ 4543 / € 3.617 plus shipping and taxes.

The mic will be used mainly on camera and on a hand grip or boom for interviews. Interviews in a noisy club / event atmo that is!

Not really sure about what tripod or head to use since the usage varies. It'll be used both fixed for interviews and to pan around a club or other location. So the head needs to be smooth and knowing outdoor music venues, the tripod must handle all sorts of abusing ground.

The Porta Brace should be a very important, if not _the_ most important investment because the atmosphere in a club or at an outdoor event will be quite rough (i.e. water pistols, rain, mud, etc). Is there a better, preferably less expensive rain slicker you can recommend?

Sorry for the long post and thanks for you time answering my n00b'ish questions :-D

PS: I'm more than prepared to buy used. So let me know if you have something I can buy off you *g*
