Buy Used or Brand new?

I am trying to decide on buying a used MiniDV deck but in good condition for around $920 bucks or buy the same deck brand new and buy the extended warranty which would jack the price up to about $1100 which also includes the shipping cost. Extended warranties are only good for original owners of the product right? So I am not sure if I could even buy an extended warranty for something I buy used.

Extended warranty for an item bought used, no.
A reputable dealer may offer a 30 day warranty on used equipment, but not an extended warranty.

For a deck, buy new unless you personally know the person selling, and are sure of it's history.

yea i just ordered a sony GVD-1000 from B&H but for those wondering there are 2 on Ebay now. They have the Buy It Now option one is $899.00 and the other is $900.00. I was considering one of those before I bought the new one.

Yea I should be getting it hopefully tomorrow if not Wednesday. I have been guilty of using my camera as a deck...well when I import footage into my computer and do a batch capture its rewinding and fast forwarding tape by itself grabbing the timecodes I already typed in. Now I can use the Sony for all that now. ;D
