Dude. Come on.

Thank you... a voice of reason.

Viral marketing strikes (and WORKS *ugh*) again...

Red and white stripes? What restaurant? I'm not doing them the favor... only because I really hate "trick marketing" like this... The whole idea is to blend sophisticated VFX within high quality "amateur" shooting style... similar to the Playstation ads.

This is a whole new genre... :nads:

Yep... I'd rather NOT have seen that said in this thread...

As I said... Viral marketing works again.

I don't mind this crap, except that it's presented as reality... and TAKEN as reality. If we were all joking about the good FX job I'd say yeah that's really cool... but there's always the majority of people that think it's legit... and it just gets on my nerves that we live in such a bullsh*t time of deception.

Yeah it's good fun... just like Kobe jumping a speeding car... or whatever... but it's a real big booger on the shirt of the people who get all excited thinking it's real... as the company proudly pats itself on the back for TRICKING YOU into promoting their business.

Yes... it's genius of sorts... being able to make a commercial that makes everybody want to say "have you SEEN THIS???" and email it to everybody they know... see, if there was a "Wednesday's" sign at the front... or wacky VO in the background talking about Wednesday's amazing bartenders... you'd find it mildly amusing... and maybe send it out (Old Spice Ad)... or maybe not.

But no, it's the fact that so many people think it's REAL... that there's some amazingly cool bartenders out there in this chain somewhere... that are really doing this... that makes it go viral.

I doubt ANY of those people even work for the company... they're actors... all of 'em.

I don't know... it just bums me out that it works so well.

Hey Matt, I think that's a TGI Fridays. That is such an awesome video! Amazing! I can't wait to e-mail this link to EVERYONE I know!!!

lol.

Hey, yeah! I can't believe how talented and amazing those bartenders are. How did they do that with the limes? And the sling shot drinks? WOW. They must have been practicing these bartending tricks for years. TGIF's knows how to hire such talented bartenders! I am going to find one and eat there tonight!

All kidding aside, I think there is a pretty disturbing trend with respect to advertising in general. There used to be some regulations and a limit to the claims a product could make. But now, they don't even feel the need to fact check. Take the Verizon vs. AT&T ads for example. They BOTH have mock-up translucent maps of the U.S. detailing each other's service coverage. If you trust Verizon, AT&T has virtually nothing across the country. If you trust AT&T the opposite would be true. They both can't be telling the truth. Someone is using a lie to make a pretty big claim. Yet, somehow, that kind of advertising is legal.

Seems like fertile ground for a horror movie or maybe "the laws of physics meets virtual reality" or "viral marketing out-takes". I mean imagine the part where the guy is dropping limes into the fan blades. Somehow I see fingers going into each of those glasses. Might be some potential here.
