Hi, I have tried to figure out how to change the resolution setting in DVD Studio Pro from 720x480i to 720x480p. It's grayed out and I can't find anything in the reference manual that could show me how to change it. Is this a hardware-based limitation? Or is it something that can be changed elsewhere?

My film is only 30 minutes long, so I'm thinking it should be an option. I'm using the dual 4:3 P&S plus 16:9 WS option when making the menus and chapters.

Thanks in advance...

First of all, I won't even go into encoding inside DVDSP, it just sucks, don't ever do it that way. Use Compressor. You have much more control over your settings, which means you can get much better looking encodes. The book Compressor Quick-Reference Guide is a must have for any FCP user.

Compressor will do what the source footage is. Give it Interlaced footage, it makes interlaced MPEG-2. Give it progressive, it makes progressive MPEG-2. It just defaults to the source.

But you can change it. I'd be very cautious about changing it. You should be editing in the format you want to create your DVD at in the first place. In the Inspector, change Video Format from NTSC (the default) to Automatic (SD). The Field Dominance changes to Automatic and is still gray. Change it back to NTSC, and you should be able to change the Field Dominance.

If you're importing a source file that is Interlaced, it won't gray out the Field Dominace option and will let you change it there.
