I am having a very big problem that has been haunting me for awhile and I just don't understand it. If I burn a movie in dvd architect 4 or 5 or even NERO WITHOUT A MENU (just a sigle full movie) it will play fine in everything, BUT if i burn with a menu it plays fine on my sony dvd stanadalone, 360, ps2, cheap portable dvd player etc, but in any blu ray player or ps3 it tends to have have a lot of playback problems in some areas mainly the first few minutes then it chills( sound and or video slows down etc) It has to be something with a blu ray player codec (they work fine on a cheapo walmart dvd player for christ sake)and I need to fix this as many of my clients watch their dvd's on ps3's and standalone bluray players. I am burning video TS files and have tried many different kinds of disks and always the same thing with the blu ray players and like I said it only happens when i burn a project with menu's if it's just a movie that plays when you pop it in it plays fine on everything. PLEASE HELP! THANKS!

Doesn't have anything to do with the Blu-ray codec. Probably a mixture of different playback technology with home-burned discs.

Is there anyway to remedy this at all? and why would this happen to only disks with menus etc? It's very frustrating.

Don't know why exactly it's happening, but it must have something to do with the mechanical difference between Blu-ray players and standard DVD players, as they work in all your standard players, and it must also have something to do with home-burning, as Blu-ray players have no problem playing commercially-pressed DVDs with menus.

The Help file for DVD Architect (or maybe it's Vegas, I'm not really sure) says that when a PS3 sees a DVD disk containing Blu-Ray data it will treat the disk as a data disk and not as a video disk. I know this is true because I have a PS3 and I've tried burning Blu-Ray data to a DVD and playing it on my PS3. When I put a complete DVD Architect Blu-Ray image (including menus) onto a DVD disk all my PS3 could see is the various folders on the disk. To play the videos on the disk I had to manually navigate to each file and play it individually.

What I also discovered is that the Blu-Ray player in my PS3 (I have the original "fat" model, not the newer "slim" one which may have a different player) definitely behaves differently from the LG DVD burner in my PC. Specifically, I used to be able use a Sony re-writable Blu-Ray disk to test out DVD Architect burns before committing them to a write-once Blu-Ray disk. But now I can no longer do that: even though the R/W disk plays fine in my PC the PS3 fails to recognize it as either a data or a video disk - the disk just spins in the PS3 and nothing gets loaded in the XMB.

I have no idea why this situation changed but my guess is the PS3's Blu-Ray player is not like those in most stand-alone machines and is in fact totally dependent on the latest version of PS3 software. I say this because my inability to play the R/W disk started right after I did the latest PS3 software update.

In general it seems like all Blu-Ray players are very sensitive to the firmware that controls them. Unfortunately I think this is going to cause more and more problems for people who create their own Blu-Ray disks.

I've had similar issues. For me, it was the use of dvd +r insetad of dvd -r

they are (ridiculously) different standards. A lot of DVD players supposedly play both, but usually there are problems. I think the best way to go is make sure you are using DVD-R discs as they are the more "standard" format for burned discs.
