burning DVD's from FCP

This might be a simple question, but I just don't know.

If I get Final Cut Studio and you edit in 24p is the Apple superdrive able to burn it?

Does it matter if it is 24p or 24PA?

Also what if you want to mass produce DVD's? You don't want to do it from your computer. So can I make a DVD using final cut pro and DVD studio Pro that I can take somewhere to have copies made? Is this the way its done? Sorry but I've only made wedding DVDs and Photo DVDs and only a few at a time.

Final Cut Studio will take you from beginning to end. Build your DVD using DVD Studio. You should be able to send that DVD to someone like Envision (DVXUser Norm Sanders) for duplications. But it's always a good idea to check out before hand what your duplicator needs from you.

Simple answer: yes.

When my PowerBook isn't busy with something else, I burn a few copies of my DVD on the Superdrive. Over the last few months, I've burned over 75 copies with zero failures.

(my) General workflow =

Shoot with camera >Capture to HD on DSR11>Edit in FCS>Export w/ either compressor or QuicktimeConversion >Import both audio and video tracks into DVDSP>Author>Build>Format>duplicate (or replicate (burn each one) if doing just a few)

It doesn't so much matter what format you edit in, what matters is how you export for DVD. There are variations to the workflow, that's just mine. You can export to a self contained QT movie from FCP for example and bring that into DVDSP and DVDSP will covert it to mpeg when the DVD is built.

In DVDSP you can author in 16:9 or 4:3 depending on your destination.

Once you've burned your master DVD (use 2x speed to burn this one as you want it perfect) you can then take that to a duplicator. If you're making 10 just burn them.. but if you're making say 30+ you might wanna take it somewhere.

Or just bust out the credit card and buy a http://dvcreators.net/primera-dvd-duplicator

24p or 24pa doesnt matter, dvd players add the pulldown needed and dvd studio pro lets you choose whether or not it's a 24pa dvd...
