Burning a DVD

Ok it is no problem just making a quicktime file and them burning it in iDVD. I have FCP studio and DVD studio Pro. But it will not take a file from the FCP to burn. I have no clue why.

So is there some why to just burn a DVD with my MacBook Pro not using iDVD.

I made one using just the burn folder but it will not work on my DVD player!!

I would like to be able to give out a DVD without all the iDVD themes. Or if I want to give it to someone else to download to their computer....

If you know they just want to download it onto their computer and not play it in a DVD player you can create a burn folder and drop it in there. That just burns the data. What programs like iDVD and DVDSP do is make your movie into VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders so that the DVD player knows how to play it when it gets inserted.

When you're exporting from FCP, right click the sequence in the browser and choose "Export Using Compressor." There will be a setting in there for "DVD XX Minutes Best Quality," use that and you will be able to bring it right into DVDSP or iDVD for burning. If you want to have the video play right away (using DVDSP) just right click the video in the browser and select "First Play." Now whenever the DVD is loaded on a DVD player the video will play first instead of the menu.

Toast is your friend. As long as your client/friend has it also, you can save a disc image of a toast project. Just send them that file.
