burned out pixel in lcd

Well, I finally talked my boss into getting a DVX for the tv station, and I recieved it today, only to find one bad lcd pixel. What a bummer eh? So my question is, is it a huge deal? Will it spread? Would you take it back? The company we bought it from is an authorised dealer, so I'm thiking I should probably take it back and get a new one, just a bummer as they dont keep them in stock and it'll be another 3 weeks!

Thanks,
Vince

Re: burned out pixel in lcd

Chances are they won't consider 1 bad pixel a significant enough problem to do an exchange, many companies expect x number of dead pixels before they consider it "broken".

Still, get it replaced if it's got a problem.

Re: burned out pixel in lcd

I had a bad pixel on my Dell laptop one time and they replaced the screen without question. I would request an exchange if I were you.

Re: burned out pixel in lcd

Thanks for the advice, I did what you both suggested and called them. Luckily they are also an authorized service center for panasonic and can fix it there. They were very willing to fix it reguardless of how many pixels were burnt out. The rep said that we bought a brand new camera, and should get one then!

Thanks for your help!,

Glad it worked out for you. Those things can eat away at you over time and you would have regreted not getting it taken care of while you could... :D

Re: burned out pixel in lcd

disjecta,
You're so right! Today I was testing out the rest of the camera, and it just kept bugging me!

On another related topic, I asked them what they could do for me with reguards to my record start stop power on/off button that fell off. (This on my personal dvx not the work one) They told me that it would be about a two week turnaround because I didn't buy it from them! So, looks like I'm going to have to take that one to another service center locally here, that said they could take care of it in a few days.

I have a dead pixel on my Nikon Coolpix 4500 digital camera CCD.
(I don't have a dead pixel on the LCD, but a dead pixel on the CCD inside.)
I always get a dead pixel on upper left corner everytime I take pictures. You can't really tell right away, but it is always there.
It used to annoy me big time, but now I just ignore it or simply fix it with Photoshop.

I have a dead pixel on the ccd in my home video camera, but I only notice it if it's on a particularly large, dark area.
