Buried

This seems interesting...

synopsis
Paul Conroy is not ready to die. But when he wakes up 6 feet underground with no idea of who put him there or why, life for the truck driver and family man instantly becomes a hellish struggle for survival. Buried with only a cell phone and a lighter, his contact with the outside world and ability to piece together clues that could help him discover his location are maddeningly limited. Poor reception, a rapidly draining battery, and a dwindling oxygen supply become his worst ...

hmm... i don't know.

artistically, it'll be as satisfying as blair witch and paranormal. business-wise, the producers wish to recreate the revenue of those two films.

so... i'll admire it for its business success, but loath it for its content.

edit: might not become more than a foot-note in movie making history.

I'm surprised not more people are talking about this film!

Rotten tomatoes has it at 86%!!

I just went to see it. A brilliant work IMO. One or two times it felt like elements were put in just to build tension, but the rest was solid. It just told so much. It's strange how a simple concept can make so many commentaries on governments, lives, the war, etc... It made me cry, it made me hold onto my seat tightly, my GF had to bury her head in my shoulder, I mean wow...

This is definitely not some blair witch thing. It's very well done. It's very minimalist, but that's what's so wonderful about it. If they cut to the happenings outside the coffin, this would have been a so-so movie. The fact that it's ALL from his perspective... genius...

Perhaps that's what you mean by blair witch? That it's all from his perspective? I don't think they're trying to cash in on that. In fact I haven't even seen any advertisements.

Guys, go and see this. If you're not blown away, you'll at least enjoy it.

I dug it (no pun intended). I wanted to see how a smart indie film could hold my attention for 90 minutes in such a confined space.
For those who don't know the entire film takes place in a single location, yup, a coffin. Even more challenging than "Twelve Angry Men", (the classic film that is shot in a single location minus the last scene.)

Probably Ryan Reynold's best work to date. Must have been sore after spending so much time in a pine box.

I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for him. I mean sure it was obviously shot in a studio with collapsible sides, but he really plays the part well. You could really feel his confined space.

But it's also interesting how it really does hold onto your attention for so long, proving it's not always about changing it up every two seconds. Some people have a mentality that every 2 minutes they need to change locations to keep people interested. Though maybe they think this because they just don't know how to write a story.

What I find interesting as well is that the cinematography was still able to mix it up a bit.

I don't think I could watch this. After seeing brief scenes in Kill Bill with Uma Thurman buried alive, it was too freakin' hard to see it because you really got a sense of how real it must be for a person to be buried alive. I'm imagining this is 100x more sensational and real, I couldn't watch it but I'm guessing it would be really interesting for sure.

+1. Maybe I'm a "closet" claustrophobic, but the more realistic this movie is, the less I'm interested in seeing it. Same goes with drowning scenes, I hold my breath and turn blue! Apollo 13 was as claustrophobic and suffocating as I like to get.

Ive seen it and its a good example how not to make fun of your audience cause its terrible ending ruins the whole movie.
And its weird cause it was kinda decent but ending... i was wondering what was the point of making this movie at all or watching it.
It should have ended in 5 minutes. They wanted be cool with this "different" ending ,i dont know, its a failure IMO, similar to "Law abiding citizen" because of pointless ending .
Using lighter when you fight for air to breathe is second biggest fail in this movie after ending, they could give him only flashlight or whatever else.

He does comment on his fear of using the lighter, so I'm fine with that. The ending is a little bit of a problem for me but not becasue it is "pointless". In fact it is very pointed, and for me my problem is that it is a little bit too neat and tidy for the experience that has come before. I very much liked the film.

I like this movie.. Ryan was absolutely amazing in this movie.. does a very good job. This movie surely deserve a high rating for its good effort

I had to dig it up, i cant believe that imdb says budget for this movie was 3 million $, this is a joke ? One guy lying on the ground in darkness ?
Is it normal to lie about budget out there ?
