Burger King Uses The Whopper To Explain Net Neutrality

The problem is that this doesn't really illustrate net neutrality (or the absence of it). It illustrates tiered pricing.

Tiered pricing is what we've always had. You pay $40 for 10 Mbps, $50 for 15 Mbps, or $60 for 20 Mbps.

Net nonneutrality means that even though you're paying AT&T for 20 Mbps, only Amazon comes at 20 Mbps. If you go to Netflix, it streams at 10 Mbps, and Youtube streams at 5 Mbps, because they didn't pay AT&T as much on the back end.

Tiered/smeared... whatya, a McDonald's fan? Slow lane for you, sir! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

While technically more closely resembling tiered pricing, it at least gets people thinking about net neutrality, which many, evidently, had never even heard of...

So a C- for accuracy, but an A for cleverness (it is an ad, after all. And not one for ISP).

It really does because in the end the consumer pays the back end as well. So it is correct 100%, just made easier to understand. The $25 Whopper is the $25/month Netflix. Because Netflix had to pay AT&T $15 "band ransom". Same thing...

Some customers are paying more for a larger slice of the "burger delivery bandwidth" to get their burgers faster than the customers who are paying less.

A better analogy is this. You have to get all your food from a food-delivery service.

You can pay the driver extra to get your food faster. That's simple tiered customer pricing.

But also, the driver will deliver McDonalds faster than Burger King, because McDonalds pays the driver too.

And maybe you can't get any food at all from Wendy's, because it made the driver mad somehow (maybe it's part of a larger company that owns a competing delivery service).

I'm sorry I poured ice water all over your Whopper :D

Try to put that in a 30s commercial, there is always someone that tries to pull teeth through the a$$. It can be done ...;-)

Should have delivered it one part at a time. Bottom bun, walk back and get meat and put it on bun, walk back for lettuce, etc. Would get even better with fries, fetch one fry at a time. The fast lane would of course get all the fries at once. The slow lane fries should also buffer a lot after the stream starts.

My lettuce is wilted... but yes, we're eagerly awaiting your Preferred Burger Bandwidth Delivery spot!

As for optitek's procedure, I think that calls for a specialist that's not on my plan... :undecided
