bullets

Figured out a way of making bullet strikes. but its tricky. it works especially well in water and loose dirt. there is a brand of paintballs called "midnight" by Diablo.

they have jet black shells but try to get a dark paint color dark blue or green or black. shoot them from off camera but 90 degrees perpindicular from the camera to minmize their appearence on screen. if you shoot them at all towards or away from the camera the show up on camera and the illusion is broken. but basically the dark shell color helps prevent them from appearing on camera. also if you have time. with some fne grain sand paper, rubb the surface of the paint balls to remove the shine. this helps reduce the highlight they produce while they fly.

but be warned, if a paint ball strikes someone in the eye it will SERIOUSLY injure that person. so do some tests before hand. also buffing the gloss off the paintball will reduce their accuracy. making them curve while flying. and possible losing controll. so be carefull.

but it is amazing how how good it looks when they hit water. you get these nice big splashes!

Interesting way of approaching getting gun shots.

There other..more safer ways than using a Paintball....making an airpumped rig...wen the trigger is pulled it sends pressure going to a pump on ur actor and then put some sponges or suttin where the end of the hose leads to so chunks fly out.

Or...you could jus totally go in post..but thats to complicated.

but i like the water idea.....that seems pretty cool, and you woulnt really be hurting some one..unless their getting shot at in the water.

Being as the human eyeball is fairly soft & moves somewhat freely within a large socket that is DIRECTLY in front of the brain, a person can actually be KILLED by direct hit to the eye from a high enough powered paint ball gun, or close enough range.

If no one is going to be in front of the shot, OR they have the appropriate face gear on, then cool. Otherwise, I'd never risk it.

YEa i should have stated a "try not to do this with actors within frame" clause. but it mostly works with water. actually looks phenominal in water. that is to say if you dont really have time to do all theunderwater gas preassure rigging.

but yes actually envision is right. it can kill you at very close range.
