Building peaks question

Is there a way to disable the building peaks feature when you insert a clip? It also leaves a sfk file in the folder.

Do I want to disable it? what is the purpose of this anyway.

The .sfk files are the audio waveforms that you see on your audio events. Building peaks is when Vegas is creating those files.

You can set prefernces to not 'draw waveforms and frames in events', but that turns off your video thumbnails too.
