building a monitor from an iPad LCD

Has anyone ever tried this? I mean the iPad has an amazing IPS screen, which is mass produced and can be found as low as 70 USD on eBay as an original LCD replacement panel. That’s a crazy price for a 9.7 inch high resolution IPS panel! (example link here)

Does anyone know how to hack a HDMI controller to the iPad LCD screen? Laptop users sometimes tweak their laptops with higher resolution or better color gamut screens, and to do that they make a custom cable.

On the other hand there a lot of DIY LCD projector threads/wikis which use HDMI LCD controllers in their projects. So in theory, we could just connect an iPad replacement LCD panel to a HDMI LCD controller. We only have to make a custom LCD cable.

Does anyone have any information about this? It would be an awesome monitor! IPS and highres and totally custom-tweakable. In the non-used pins of a HDMI cable we can even supply power!

It would be an ideal monitor; too bad there is no hdmi input. The demand from videographers is probably too small for Apple to care about changing that.
Maybe some electronic wiz could jury rig something. One thing you could probably do now though is to use the eye-fi card
to tether your dslr. Right now due to bandwidth limitations, you could probably only use to start and stop your recordings.
