Building a field recording/editing kit. Need Help.

I'm looking to build a field recording kit that can be housed inside a pelican case. I want to be able to fit my laptop (Macbook 13.3"), a big Hard drive that doesn't need to be plugged in to work and also the PCMI card adapter that's supposed to be coming out soon in order to transfer P2 card data directly to the harddrive.

Ideally I just want to be able to have the kit on location and when the card is filled open it up and dump it off. It'd also be nice to do some quick editing on the spot to make sure everything is how it ought to be.

So, what specifically would I need to make this happen? Thanks!

Final Cut studio:
USB or firewire BUS powered Hard drives. Typically they are in 2.5" variety. Ie a Notebook hard drive.
Power. Either lot's of batteries for the laptop, or some external power brick. or AC power.
