Build a computer for Vegas

Hi asked a question in another thread that I really wanted to expand so I saw it fitting to start a new one.

Im planning to build/upgrade the computer to a Quad with 8GB ram.

But to use the ram I would need a 64bit OS (Also I would like to be ready for a 64bit edition of Vegas).

1. What problem will Vista64 give me with Vegas?

2. How does capture of HDV work with Vegas and Vista?

3. Is there any recommendations for a good motherboard?

1. Random crashes, more often than in 32bit XP.
2. Fine, but of course depending on your fw chipset. Usually fine though.

Vegas won't use most of that RAM. I have 4 gigs, (of which 3.5 is usable in XP), and Vegas barely uses 2 gigs even with a large HD edit session.

Well the RAM is also to make vista go smooth. I was recommended to go 8GB with Vista.

So can the stability of running vista and vegas be effected by the RAM?
