Bug in the system

Okay,

so I'm working away on my Mac G5 with 20" LCD display, when all of a sudden, I feel violated:

There's an insect crawling around INSIDE my LCD monitor. It's weird cause it crawls around UNDER the image. Very strange. This is just another page to the bible of BS that I've had to deal with after uprgrading to the G5 system.

Anbody else have this problem?

Re: Bug in the system

Yeah, what does that have to do with upgrading to the G5 system..you are talking about an LCD not the actual G5?!

Re: Bug in the system

right, it's a local problem with the LCD, but I've had LOTS of GUI problems and display freezes/crashes, and it makes me wornder if I have an infestation of bugs or something shorting out something and causing the problems.

It's probably not the case, but if a bug can get in there, I don't know why it keeps crawling around and can't get out.

I just got the display and the G5 at the same time is all.

Re: Bug in the system

I do kinda have to laugh at it, but it's not funny.  It stopped being funny a while ago.  I got the system back in January and have had A LOT of problems wih the above mentioned freezes, so it may be too late to replace it, although I do have the apple care protection plan for 3 years.

I have my own apple support guy, and he's given me the run around for months.  I've erased and reinstalled the OS about a dozen times, and have replaced the RAM and the Video card, and I still have problems.

He told me the Apple engineers think they may have discovered a potential firmware error with the video card which may be causing the problems, but I just have to wait.  At some point, I'm gonna insist on getting a new system.

The display has debris and some dead pixels that were there from the first time I fired the machine up.

Re: Bug in the system

My 20" Cinema display is perfect. No bugs and fortunately cicadas are waaaay too large to get inside. Given the purchase of your system in January and the lifespan of tiny insects--you can hardly blame Apple for *this* bug. If the debris and dead pixels were an issue, you should have immediately sent the display back. Your bug is probably attracted to light--and hence, the back of the screen. Try shutting off the display and holding a flashlight near the rear cooling vents--maybe you can lure him out.

Also, it's time to kick up your system complaints to another level. Make some noise and get kicked up to the next level in the support hierarchy. Be polite, be firm, and start calling every other day until your problems have been resolved.

Re: Bug in the system

Yeah, I don't blame apple for the insect, just everything else.

The bad thing is that oddly enough, ever since my rep told me about that potential firmware issue with the G5's video cards, I haven't had any freezes or other problems.

*knocks on wood*

It's always been a very random problem anyway. It wouldn't happen for a couple of weeks and then it would freeze every 20 minutes to an hour for a couple of days. VERY annoying.

Believe me I raised all kinds of hell from day one, and in regards to the LCD issues with the debris in the corner and the dead pixels, Apple has always told me that the stuff is 'within specs.'

SPEC THIS ASSHOLES!

It's just stupid.
